David Gonzales
Co-Founder & President
David Gonzales is the Co-Founder and President of Data Center Energy Solutions (DCES) and a proven energy executive with decades of experience building and monetizing successful energy companies. Throughout his career, David has co-founded and led multiple upstream, midstream, and operating businesses that collectively generated more than $2 billion in combined enterprise value.
At DCES, David focuses on strategic partnerships, project execution, and scaling infrastructure solutions for next-generation AI and data center developments. His leadership style is deeply relationship-driven and centered around aligning strong partners, moving quickly, and creating long-term value through disciplined execution.
Before co-founding DCES, David served as a co-founder and executive leader of Bison Oil & Gas I, II, III, and IV, along with related companies including Bison Operating, Eagle Ray, Stampede Midstream, and Logos Resources. Many of these ventures were backed by leading private equity firms including Carnelian Energy Capital, Quantum Energy Partners, and ArcLight Capital Partners, with several delivering exceptional investor returns.
David earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, where he later served six years on the Board of Regents following a gubernatorial appointment. He is also a two-time EY Entrepreneur of the Year Mountain Desert Region finalist.
Matthew Derrick
Co-Founder & Chief Development Officer
Matthew Derrick is a seasoned commercial real estate and development executive with more than 20 years of experience across land entitlements, vertical development, acquisitions, capital partnerships, and project execution. Over the course of his career, Matt has led and delivered more than $1 billion in projects across the United States, with deep expertise in complex real estate transactions, development strategy, and financial structuring.
At Data Center Energy Solutions (DCES), Matt leads land strategy, development execution, entitlements, and capital relationships for the company’s powered land and data center infrastructure platform. He plays a key role in assembling strategic sites, managing development processes, and coordinating across engineering, legal, construction, and investment teams to advance gigawatt-scale opportunities.
Prior to DCES, Matt served as Managing Director of a real estate development and investment firm, where he oversaw major mixed-use, commercial, and master-planned developments. His experience includes leading a $190 million four-project recapitalization, winning a $200 million development RFP in Orange County, California over more than 20 national firms, and assembling and entitling thousands of acres for large-scale master development communities in Virginia and Maryland.
A Denver native, Matt is active with ACE Scholarships and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado. He earned degrees from University of Colorado Boulder and University of Denver.
Chelsea Williams
Co-Founder & Chief Financial Officer
Chelsea Williams is the Co-Founder and CFO of Data Center Energy Solutions (DCES), where she leads commercial strategy, partnerships, financing initiatives, and customer development for the company’s AI and data center infrastructure platform. Her work focuses on building relationships across hyperscalers, independent power producers, utilities, natural gas suppliers, developers, and capital partners to accelerate scalable powered land and behind-the-meter energy solutions.
Chelsea has 15 years of experience across corporate finance, infrastructure development, and strategic transactions in the energy industry. Throughout her career, she has worked on more than $1 billion in mergers and acquisitions, debt financings, and equity capital raises for both public and private energy companies.
Before co-founding DCES, Chelsea spent nearly seven years as Vice President of Corporate Development at Taproot Energy Partners, a private equity-backed midstream company, where she led strategic growth initiatives and transaction execution. Prior to Taproot, she held corporate development roles at American Midstream Partners, LP and began her career in Macquarie Capital’s Global Energy Investment Banking Group.
Chelsea earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Colorado State University.
